SCAD Radio presents the popular “Savannah Record Fair” and live concert Venice is Sinking and the Eastern Sea among bands to perform.
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah College of Art and Design’s SCAD Radio presents the fall “Savannah Record Fair” Oct. 16, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at River Club, 3 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Dealers from around the southeast and as far away as the midwest will offer vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and music memorabilia.

The ‘Record Fair’ opportunity puts Savannahians who care about music – from casual hobbyists to avid collectors – in touch with fellow enthusiasts and hundreds of thousands of records from over forty vendors, offering all genres of music.
The October 2009 and April 2010 Savannah Record Fairs, also hosted by SCAD Radio, were so popular the need for reoccurring events was evident and has now happily has become a part of the Southern Savannah culture.
The event is free and open to the public. Vendor tables are available for $50 for the general public, $15 for SCAD staff, faculty and alumni, and free for SCAD students. Admission is free and open to the public. All proceeds from table rentals benefit the noncommercial operation of SCAD Radio.

Crosby, Stills and Nash (CSN) – the group consisting of David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash is coming to Jacksonville this fall. The group might even be more famous as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) when Neil Young becomes one of the members. The group is known for their vocal harmonies and influence on music over many years. All four members have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. On Saturday May 1, 2010, there is a free, family-friendly event for those of us who love the silver screen and the glamor that comes with it. Catherine Bell, who plays Denise Sherwood of Lifetime Movie Network’s “Army Wives” and Alex Meraz, he plays Paul of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” will be there. The little ones have not been forgotten either, Barbie will make an appearance as well as Spiderman.
Bring your own chairs for the movies and live entertainment since the event takes place on parking lot asphalt. Hats and sunscreen might come in handy to, but coolers are not allowed.

Even though summer is over, the Reggae Nights summer concert series is coming up on the last and final concert for the summer on Saturday October 17, 2009, at Wannamaker County Park. This time Reggae Infinity is performing. This is the last chance to attend Reggae Nights, the Summer Concert Series of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, for this season, so don’t miss out.
Reggae Infinity was formed in 1996 in Columbia, SC and consists of four members who hail from all around the Caribbean islands. They have four upcoming events in October alone including their stop in North Charleston for Reggae Nights. They have recorded a number of original songs with a strong spiritual foundation and are appropriate for all age groups.

Star Wars: In Concert Worldwide concert tour plays October 29 at the
Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena
September 17, 2009 – Star Wars™: In Concert is a unique multi-media event featuring music from all six of John Williams’ epic Star Wars scores. As part of its worldwide tour, it will play October 29, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Narrated live by Anthony Daniels (the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films), the production features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen – one of the largest ever put on tour. The live music and film elements are synchronized in order to create a full multi-media, one-of-kind Star Wars experience.

“Creating the music for the Star Wars films has been an exciting and wonderful experience for me, and I therefore have derived particular pleasure in assembling a compendium of themes from all of the films to be presented in Star Wars in Concert,†said Williams. “The editors at Lucasfilm have created original film montages to accompany each of the musical selections, and in the process, I believe that a singular and unique Star Wars experience has been born.â€

Accompanying the concert is an exclusive exhibit of Star Wars costumes, props, artifacts, production artwork and specially created behind-the-scenes videos from the Lucasfilm Archives. Many of these pieces are leaving Skywalker Ranch for the first time. The exhibit features many classic fan favorite artifacts, as well as several new and never-before-seen items, including:
• Full costumes for Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon will be on display.
• For the first time ever, pages from John Williams’ original hand-written sheet music for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace will be exhibited for the public.
• Also on display will be various never-before-seen props from the films, including blasters and helmets from Coruscant, Tatooine and other iconic Star Wars locations.
